Cloth diapers or Disposable diapers?

This
is the most exciting debate among new parents and young mothers, even become an
exciting conversation between husband and wife long before their child is born.
We are always confused about what we
going to use, is it cloth diapers that can be reused, or a disposable diaper. If you already have children may feel this dilemma. A child can use the 6000 to 8000 and even disposable diapers. Imagine the money that must be spent to buy diapers as much as it is
finally disposed of, and cause problems.
Therefore, we must know the
advantages and disadvantages of each.
Pros and Cons of Disposable Diapers
Advantages :
- Children can sleep more tranquil because it is not disturbed by a wet diaper, especially when sleeping at night
- Practical especially to go for a walk
- No need to wash, so saving water and detergent
- Parents do not bother to change a diaper, so just throw it straight
The
loss :
- Waste recycling diapers difficult. It is estimated diapers take 200-500 years to actually recycled. Some companies began to seek a diaper that is easy to recycle.
- Trash diaper can harm the environment. Rubbish piled up diapers in end disposal place could pollute the environment because when exposed to rain, the content of these nappies can get into the ground (along with other waste) and pollute the groundwater.
- The cost is high. A little bit too long into the hills. It does not buy much but if you continuously for several years, your family can actually use the money for other needs
- Uses a lot of chemicals, plastics, wood
- Health Risk! There is evidence from research for the correlation between disposable diapers and male fertility. If your baby wearing a disposable diaper, the diaper will raise your child and testicular temperature can reduce sperm production. (Research is still continuing for other evidence)
Pros and Cons of Cloth Diapers
Advantages :
- Cost! Obviously cheaper cloth diapers because we only need to buy maybe 1-2 dozen cloth diapers than buying disposables every week.
- Can be used again. When our children can be trained to use the toilet, then keep a cloth diaper can be reused if necessary, can be saved for the next child, can be given to others in need.
- Reducing waste. Imagine if a baby can produce 6000 disposable diapers and discarded into the landfill. How many babies in the world?
- Can be recycled. When the diapers are not used and disposed to recycle back because material from cotton.
- Made of cotton base. Cotton is much better than the material that is plastic disposable diapers. Cotton can also be renewed / re-planted, unlike oil-based plastics
- Reduce diaper rash
The lost :
- Use plenty of water, detergent and electricity
- Made of cotton base. Although it can be renewed, but if the cotton plant that will use non-organic fertilizers and pesticides are harmful to the environment
- Less comfortable for the baby. Using cloth diapers in size does not fit like a disposable diaper is more comfortable. Cloth diapers can also be leaked to the left / right because it is not closed. So for kids who like to move can be difficult.

Thanks for bringing out the pros and cons of both cloth and disposable diaper. Because we are in a rush-rush generation we tend to want a NOW solution without thinking of the long term effect. Thanks for sharing

Great article. You present both sides very well. I have to say I think cloth is the better way to go, and maybe keep some others on hand for emergencies.
